Sarah Pettit was recently named to a new leadership role as Associated Food Stores’ public affairs director, where she will focus on government relations, social responsibility and related communications initiatives.

Sarah began her grocery career with Associated Food Stores 12 years ago as a social media specialist. Since 2011, she has taken on numerous projects in public relations, media relations, crisis communications and marketing initiatives. Among her many achievements, Sarah is proud of her past work on the Honey Bee Produce Company brand, collaborating with Ryan Barnes and Senator Lee’s team for Flavors of Utah, and building multiple charitable programs, including the Feed Utah initiative, which produced over 780,000 pounds of food for the Utah Food Bank in 2024.

Before joining Associated Food Stores, Sarah gained experience working with The World Wildlife Fund, Governor Gary Herbert’s Office, and agency Richter7 in public relations. She holds an undergraduate degree in Communications from Westminster University and recently completed her Master’s Degree in Integrated Marketing and Communications at Georgetown University.

Sarah is excited to now serve as an advocate for AFS retailers regarding public policy and finding profitable, win-win solutions with sustainability initiatives.

“I have been so fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn and grow my career at Associated Food Stores,” said Sarah. “I care deeply about ‘One Associated’ and have always recognized the immense strength and tenacity of the independent grocer. Our retailers play a massive role in the everyday lives of the communities we serve. I am looking forward to helping create additional awareness about the many ways Associated Food Stores enriches the lives of others. It’s truly an honor to advocate and represent our retailers.”
