Kent’s, AFS, Operation Homefront and partners distribute 300 meals to Utah Military Families
Procter & Gamble, Kent’s Market and Associated Food Stores join military nonprofit to honor those who serve
In honor of Military Appreciation Month, Operation Homefront, Kent’s Market, Associated Food Stores and partners including Procter & Gamble, hosted a drive-through “Meals for Military” event for 300 local military families in Plain City on Saturday, May 14. The national nonprofit distributed gift cards to purchase the essentials for a traditional family meal and provide additional donated items to pre-registered military families at the Kent’s Market in Plain City.
The “Meals for Military” event is a part of Operation Homefront’s larger Holiday Meals for Military® (HMFM) program. The national nonprofit has provided meals to more than 600,000 individual military family members since the program officially began in 2010. The program offers junior- and mid-grade enlisted families, who are often far from loved ones, with all the grocery items necessary to prepare a traditional family meal, to brighten the lives of those who sacrifice so much on behalf of all Americans.
Many AFS team members participated in the event including Tim Conner, Derid Kunz, Bob King, Emily Butlin, Elizabeth Barnett, Ryan Wagoner, Courtney Poulson, Allen Christensen, Lon Hergot and Josh Smith.
Companies including Chobani, Hormel Foods, General Mills, ABC Pepsi, The Coca-Cola Company, Lehi Mills, Quaker Oats, Kodiak Cakes, Little Debbie, Don Julio, Sparkling Ice, Hydrojug, and MTN OPS were also onsite with donated items to celebrate and honor military families at the Military Appreciation Month event. K-BULL 93’s Lexi and Banks broadcasted from the celebration to show their support.
