Flavors of Utah partners participate in a cooking demonstration hosted by Harmons

WHAT: Flavors of Utah cooking demonstration

WHO: Flavors of Utah partners (members from Harmons, Associated Food Stores, Zions Bank, Utah Food Industry Association and government officials) including Associated Food Stores CEO Neal Berube, Zions Bank Chairman Harris Simmons, Sharon Lee (wife of Utah Sen. Mike Lee), and Ian Richins of Woods Cross UT who recently participated on Food Network’s show Chopped Junior, with cooking instruction led by Harmons’ chefs Casey Bowthorpe and Evan Francois.

WHY: Flavors of Utah, an annual Pioneer Day event shares the best Utah products and services on a national stage. The local-themed cooking demonstration sponsored by Harmon’s showcases a collaboration reflective of Utah food traditions, business and artisan foods, recognizing Utah’s quality products and the beehive state’s industrial spirit. The cooking demonstration will be followed with a Utah State Capitol send-off July 19 and national tasting celebration July 25 in Washington D.C.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES: With instruction from Harmons’ chefs, Flavors of Utah partners will be cooking the same meal which will be served to all Republican senators in Washington D.C. on July 25 made of Utah products (action shots will be available.)Representatives from featured companies will also be on-site for interviews, photos and video opportunities.

FLAVORS OF UTAH: Flavors of Utah is an annual event that takes place in the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington D.C. that highlights Utah business and products on a national stage. Hosted by Senator Lee and the Utah Congressional Delegation, Associated Food Stores, Utah Food Industry Association and Zion’s Bank with over 20 local Utah food vendors, Flavors of Utah captures the incredible artisan craftsmanship and the spirit of the beehive state’s ingenuity: going the extra mile to humbly deliver the best products in the country. 2019 vendors include: Heber Valley Cheese, Lower Foods, Taffy Town, Gusto Brazil, Creminelli Fine Meats, Mtn Ops, Pepperlane, Julieann Caramels, Madbrook donuts, Kodiak Cakes, Houwelings Tomatoes, Squatters, Apple Beer, Beehive Cheese, Chef Shamy Butter, USU Aggie Ice Cream, Sweet Candy Company, Butcher’s Bunches, Rocky Mountain Pies, Utah’s Own with support from Harmon’s, Lifetime, Utah’s Credit Unions, Walmart, Ski Utah, and the Utah Office of Tourism.
