Two members of Associated Food Stores were recognized for their exceptional marketing and merchandising efforts at the National Grocers Association (NGA) Show this week. The annual Creative Choice Awards, presented by the NGA, celebrate the most innovative campaigns from independent grocery retailers across North America.

Macey’s Market Little Cottonwood was recognized in the Grand Opening or Remodel category. The store’s “Building Stores Around Community” grand opening event impressed the judges, highlighting a commitment to serving and integrating with the local community.

Broulim’s, group of multiple stores in Idaho, earned impressive recognition. The retailer won the Digital Connections award for its “Broulim’s Fried Chicken” campaign. Additionally, Broulim’s received an award in the Fresh: Bakery/Deli/Prepared Foods/Foodservice category for the same campaign. The retailer also secured top honors in the Fresh: Produce/Floral category for its Hatch Chile Roasting Festival, further showcasing its ability to engage customers through fresh and innovative experiences.

The Creative Choice Awards were judged by a panel of industry experts and trade media professionals. Entries were evaluated based on creativity, clarity, innovation and effectiveness. This year, the competition was fierce, with more than 300 submissions across all categories.

The winners were officially honored at the NGA Show, which ran from Feb. 23-25, 2025, at the Caesars Forum Convention Center in Las Vegas. The awards presentation, sponsored by Kellanova and Unilever, took place during the opening general session on Feb. 25.

The recognition of Broulim’s and Macey’s Market underscores the innovative spirit and customer-focused initiatives of Associated Food Stores’ members.
