Associated Food Stores set an all-time sales record the week of November 12 to November 18. With more than $49 million in wholesale sales, the week’s totals exceeded the previous record set last year.
While ongoing inflation is a factor, the collaborative effort and teamwork throughout the company is driving the extraordinary results.
“It takes a lot of work and great cooperation to keep up with demand,” said Glen Keysaw, vice president of distribution. “The team at the distribution center is remarkable. I’m so grateful to work with them every day and it’s great for us to be part of the larger effort throughout AFS.”
From the distribution center to the corporate office to retail stores, it takes unified energy and commitment to experience these record-breaking results.
Add to this milestone a $25-million week for the corporate pharmacy department, a new high under the Cardinal contract that started in the spring of 2022. The surge of GLP1 drug volume (used for diabetes and recently for weight loss) no doubt influenced the sales but pharmacy teams also report a steady increase in script count migrating to their pharmacies.
