Davis Food and Drug Adds SNAP/EBT Functionality to E-Commerce
Beginning on January 24, Davis Food and Drug became the first member of Associated Food Stores (AFS) and the first Rosie retailer nationwide to offer online order payment with SNAP/EBT. Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) is an electronic system that allows a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participant to pay for food using SNAP benefits.
Remaining eligible AFS retailers using the Rosie platform will launch online SNAP/EBT in the coming weeks.
“This is a huge accomplishment as we aim to make our online shopping experience delightful and accessible for all our customers,” said Thomas Horne, senior e-commerce marketing manager, AFS. “With Rosie’s guidance, we can now provide our SNAP-paying customers the ability to shop online and get their groceries delivered.”
“Getting federal approval for Rosie’s software to handle online SNAP payments has been a long process,” said Jon Ambrose, co-founder and COO of Rosie. “Getting the software live and approved has been our main goal since we broke ground on the project last year. All of us at Rosie are extremely proud of this achievement…and what it means for our retailer-partners and their communities.”
Rosie teams with independent grocers and their wholesalers to provide a fully customizable, branded e-commerce presence; delivery opportunities; omnichannel marketing; and deep data services. Through strategic partnerships across the country, the company connects independent retailers with new customers through a fast, user-friendly e-commerce experience.
