Last week, board members and company leaders met to review recent successes, plan for future opportunities and discuss opportunities for improvement.
One of the main topics of discussion was Project ROAR, the company’s distribution center modernization effort. Amid two days of meetings, the board of directors toured the Farr West Distribution Center to see the progress thus far and receive updates on next steps.
Justin Johnson, director of logistics and transportation, led the tours and expressed enthusiasm for the project and gratitude for the support of the board of directors. He and other distribution center leaders, along with a representative from Symbotic, gave the board of directors a “behind-the-scenes” tour of the facility and shared insights into the project’s status.
Board members were able to view the work of over 130 contractors from across the nation who have gathered in Farr West to build the system. The crews, who began work in March and completed the project in August, worked meticulously to ensure every detail was executed with precision and their efforts have resulted in a structure that is expected to stand the test of time.
Over the next 12 months the AFS team, retailers, and Symbotic will work in unison to complete phase two of the project. The system will be powered up and testing will start in January, with the first outbound pallets scheduled to be sent to retail during the last weeks of February.
“We are so grateful to the team members at the Farr West facility,” said Chris Gentry, member of the board of directors and owner of Madison Foods in Ennis Montana. “We recognize the monumental effort taking place and are very appreciative of the progress on this incredibly important project.”
