Associated Food Stores has reached a historic milestone, achieving its highest retail membership in its 85 years with 480 stores. The remarkable growth reflects both the strength of the company, its current members and expanding opportunities in key regions, including Montana.
“Montana is an exciting market for independent grocers,” said Roger White, executive vice president and COO. “We’ve seen growth as retailers look for a trusted partner to help them navigate the challenges they face. We’re proud to provide the tools, resources and distribution solutions they need to succeed.”
AFS attributes much of its success to the dedication and expertise of its teams across distribution and retail support services. From ensuring timely deliveries through their state-of-the-art distribution center to offering strategic marketing and merchandising solutions, AFS remains committed to empowering its members.
“Every member of our team plays a role in supporting our retailers,” Travis Boman, executive vice president and CFO, added. “Their passion for service makes this milestone possible.”
Founded in 1940 by a group of independent grocers who united to strengthen their buying power, Associated Food Stores has consistently adapted to meet the needs of its members. Originally serving a small group of retailers in Utah, the cooperative has grown into a regional powerhouse, helping family-owned and independent stores thrive in an increasingly competitive grocery market.
As AFS celebrates its 85th year, the company remains focused on fostering further growth while staying true to its founding principles and values
“We’re honored to celebrate this milestone with our members,” said Travis. “As we look to the future, we’re more committed than ever to helping our retailers succeed for generations to come.”
