The 2025 Feed Utah Food Drive, held on March 15, brought together communities, faith-based organizations, and businesses across Utah to combat food insecurity—a crisis impacting 1 in 6 Utah children and 415,000 residents statewide. As a cornerstone partner, Associated Food Stores (AFS) and its Associated Retail Operations (ARO) played a pivotal role in ensuring the drive’s success, reinforcing our commitment to nourishing communities.
Macey’s, Lin’s Market, and Lee’s Marketplace locations served as drop-off points in every community, collecting a combined 767,869 pounds of food from generous shoppers. This massive contribution accounted for over half of the statewide total, helping push the Feed Utah Food Drive to an impressive 1.5 million pounds of food collected across all partners, including local agencies and the Utah Food Bank.
AFS was proud to collaborate with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Just Serve, and the Governor’s Office to mobilize volunteers and resources.
As inflation and economic pressures persist, AFS remains committed to innovating solutions—whether through advocacy, logistics, or community engagement. Sarah Pettit, the public affairs director at AFS, expressed pride and gratitude in the company’s work and the community’s involvement: “Enriching lives, one grocer, one family, and one meal at a time. Our mission statement is a strong commitment to the communities we serve, especially those who face food insecurity.” She said.
“Together, in the 2025 Feed Utah Food Drive, we’ve helped provide 2.7 MILLION MEALS — feeding 2,532 families of four for three months. I am so humbled and truly grateful to the many store teams, as well as our AFS drivers who contributed extra time and resources to help stock local food pantries. What we are doing is truly making a difference.”
