Macey’s Market Little Cottonwood is the recipient of the 2025 Sandy City Corporate Citizenship Award, one of several honors presented at this year’s One Sandy Awards on April 4. The awards recognize individuals, organizations, and businesses that go above and beyond in serving the Sandy community. Nominated by local residents and selected by a committee, honorees are chosen for their commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Sandy.

Macey’s Market Little Cottonwood opened in April of last year, and the store has quickly become a big part of the community. From its bright, welcoming environment to its dedicated support of local causes, Macey’s Market exemplifies what it means to be a good neighbor.

“We know that grocery stores are a community gathering place,” said Greg Welling, Vice President of Retail Operations. “It’s where people come to shop, meet their neighbors, and support their families. As a locally owned and operated store, we’re proud to be part of the fabric of this community.”

Store Director Brian Golliet echoed that sentiment, noting the team strives to create a warm and helpful atmosphere. “Here at Macey’s Market, we have what we call ‘Happy Shopping,’” he said. “Our team members go above and beyond to take care of guests, help them find what they need, and ensure they leave with a smile.”

Beyond providing excellent customer service, the store is committed to supporting local causes. Macey’s Market participates in multiple charitable efforts each year, including the Feed Utah food drive, Make-A-Wish Foundation campaigns, and school supply drives for neighborhood schools.

One of the store’s standout features is its focus on local products, proudly displayed with the “Local Proud” icon. “It’s important for us to offer products that people know and recognize from our region,” said Welling. “Food is such a central part of our lives, and being able to connect with our community through it is incredibly meaningful.”

And of course, it’s the little touches—like the iconic Kong Kone —that make the experience memorable.

“We’re grateful that Sandy City has recognized us with the Corporate Citizenship Award,” said Welling. “It shows us that our efforts to give back and be a positive presence in the community are making a difference.”
