Thanksgiving Heroes partnered with Macey’s to bring hope and food to 480 local families in need through their Spring-Giving event on April 3rd. With the support of Macey’s and 170 volunteers, the event was an example of community support.
Steve Skinner, district manager; Amy Street, Macey’s West Jordan store director; and John Webster, Macey’s West Jordan assistant store director, played key roles in making the event successful. Macey’s was the main sponsor, helping give families boxes full of food items like ground beef, soup and fresh fruit.
Volunteers began their service at 5:30 PM at the West Jordan Macey’s, located at 7859 S. 3200 W. Each food box was delivered directly to a family’s doorstep, along with this message of love and support from the community.
“Dear Friend, We hope this Spring Giving meal kit brings a bit of relief, comfort, and hope to you and your family this season. You are not alone—your community cares about you. This gift comes with love and support from Thanksgiving Heroes, Macey’s, and the many people in your community who believe in helping one another. May it serve as a reminder that brighter days are ahead. Wishing you warmth, peace, and renewal this spring.”
“This was about more than just food—it was about connection and compassion,” said Jenni Griffin, event organizer with Thanksgiving Heroes. “Thanks to Macey’s and our amazing volunteers, 480 families felt seen and supported this spring.”
District Manager Steve Skinner emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting the community: “At Macey’s, we believe in giving back and strengthening the communities we serve. Seeing so many people come together to help their neighbors was truly inspiring.”
Volunteers were encouraged to call ahead before delivering. If a family couldn’t be reached, boxes were left on the front porch. In cases where volunteers were unable to locate a home after multiple attempts, they were invited to give the box to a family they knew who may have been in need.
