At Associated Food Stores, our compass of values points first and foremost to Safety. Like true north on any compass, safety guides every decision and action we take.
While our values of courtesy, efficiency, and experience help us deliver excellence to our customers, safety remains the foundation that makes all else possible. In effort to help keep our team safe at work and at home, each month the Asset Protection and Risk Management team will provide relevant safety tips. This month, we will be talking about fire safety, and the best ways to be prepared for a fire at home.
Did you know that there are approximately 1.5 million residential fires each year? In 2023, 332,000 homes caught fire, (which is approx. 24 percent of all fires.)
Cooking is the leading cause of house fires, causing 49% of all household fires, followed buy heating (13%) and electrical issues (9%).
