Associated Retail Operations (ARO) recently announced a significant milestone as the group of stores achieved its fifth-best sales week in its history during the Christmas holiday season. The accomplishment comes despite an increasingly competitive retail landscape and shows Macey’s, Dan’s, Dick’s Market, Lin’s and Fresh Market’s ability to meet evolving guest preferences.
The sales surge was attributed to a combination of factors, including strong holiday promotions and Exclusive Brands growth. Company leaders credit store team members, and support from the wholesale team, for their exceptional efforts.
“This achievement highlights the hard work of our teams and the loyalty of our customers,” said Greg Welling, vice president of retail operations for ARO. “We’ve focused on delivering exceptional value, quality and service, and it’s clear those efforts are resonating with our guests. We aimed to ‘win the holidays’ and the team delivered.”
The company’s Exclusive Brands played a key role in the week’s success, with sales in multiple categories experiencing significant growth. Fresh departments also played a major role in the success. Strategic promotions and a focus on fresh, high-quality offerings helped drive customer interest and sales.
The record-breaking week also highlighted ARO’s continued investment in digital tools and marketing initiatives. Compelling advertising, online marketing and exciting promotions through the Perks loyalty program helped attract a broad range of customers.
Looking ahead, ARO aims to build on its momentum with upcoming initiatives designed to enhance the shopping experience, expand product offerings and deepen connections with the communities it serves during 2025.
“We’re not stopping here,” said Greg. “This milestone is just the beginning as we continue to innovate and find new ways to serve our guests better. It was great to finish the year with such successful holiday sales and we’re carrying that momentum into 2025 with solid weeks to start the year as well.”
