Harvest of Hope drive sends semi-trailers full of food for those in need
Throughout November, guests at Macey’s, Dan’s, Dick’s Market, Lin’s, and Fresh Market came together for the stores’ Harvest of Hope campaign, surpassing the original goal of $200,000 by raising an incredible $250,000 to support local food pantries.
Store guests participated by purchasing prefilled bags of groceries, making cash donations, or buying specially marked products from Hershey’s, Kraft-Heinz, Kellanovoa, Pepsi, Hormel Foods, General Mills, Perfetti Melle, Proctor & Gamble, Mondelez International, Post, Kellogg’s, Henry Weinnard’s, Frito Lay, Conagra, Coca-Cola, Ferrara, Blue Chip Group and Mancini Rodon Group. A portion of sales were donated for each item sold totaling over $47,000 in addition to the $250,000.
“Our store team members are the heart of this drive,” said Candice Fischer, director of customer relations. “Their dedication and passion for the drive inspires our guests to join in and we are incredibly grateful for their hard work.”
Guests were asked to donate any dollar amount with the promise it would make a difference to the local food bank in their community. Jodie Voivod, a cashier at Lin’s Overton received a surprise when a guest donated $10,000 to the cause.
Dick’s Market Bountiful raised almost $17,000, the highest amount of money given by any of the stores. Dick’s Market Centerville came in second at almost $16,000 and Macey’s Providence was third at just over $15,000.
