After more than 40 years of dedicated service, Dennis Wheeler, AFS’ director of information services, is retiring from AFS, leaving behind a remarkable legacy. Starting his career as a developer, Dennis is best known for his integral contributions to the AIMS system, which became a cornerstone of our operations. Dennis has also been an invaluable resource to the distribution center, always going above and beyond to address the distribution team with their technological needs and ensure seamless operations. His commitment, expertise and willingness to serve have made a lasting impact and he will be greatly missed.
“Dennis has been an integral part of the I.T. Team for over 40 years, and has impacted many team members as he has helped to improve processes through the use of technology. From the beginnings of the AIMS system to the closing of the different divisions to the implementation of warehouse management software and many other technology solutions over the years, Dennis has been key in getting them in place and in providing the ongoing support,” said Wade Judd, CIO at AFS. “Additionally, he has had a big impact on the I.T. team over the years. He has taught many how things work and how to resolve the issues that are a part of technology. He won’t miss the middle of the night phone calls when something goes wrong, but we will certainly miss him. We wish him well as he enjoys time doing other things in life.”
Earlier today, a gathering was held at the corporate office in honor of Dennis, bringing together his family, friends and colleagues to celebrate his incredible 40-plus-year career. The event was filled with heartfelt stories and warm farewells, marking Dennis’ invaluable contributions to the company. It was a fitting tribute to a dedicated team member who has left a lasting impact on the organization and its technology efforts.
