John Curtis, who is Congressman for District 3 and in the running for Senator Romney’s seat, visited the Farr West Distribution Facility on Monday, October 28.
The tour included popular stops like the frigid, -12-degree freezer, the banana ripening area, a review of Project ROAR and AFS’ bustling docking station. The primary purpose of the tour, however, was aimed at raising awareness about advocacy topics for the independent grocer.
The end of the tour included conversations about the need for reform with credit card swipe fees, pharmacy benefit managers, and the Robinson Patman Act.
The tour was led by Tony Merrill, and attended by Dave Davis with Utah Food Industry Association, Brock and Michelle Day with Day’s Market, Chris Sheard, Leigh Vaughn, and coordinated by Sarah Pettit.
“John Curtis has been a long-time guest at Day’s Market,” said Brock Day. “It was nice to talk with him about issues that are important to all independent grocers. We had a meaningful conversation about credit card swipe fees where he learned the frustrations we face on forced fees that are the highest cost to retailers next to labor.”
A special thank you the incredible team at the Farr West Distribution Facility for their talent and preparation with hosting distribution center tours.
