The Harmons grocery store in West Valley City celebrated its grand reopening recently following a year-long renovation. As the original location of the Utah-based company, the remodeled store offers a variety of new amenities and a refreshed layout that enhances the shopping experience for customers.

Originally opened in 1971, the West Valley location has now been transformed to meet the needs of today’s shoppers, while still holding onto its roots. “There wasn’t any part of the store that didn’t get a tweak or an upgrade,” Bob Harmon said of the extensive nature of the renovation.

The remodeled Harmons now features an expanded kitchen and dining area, a larger salad bar, a new seafood case and a remodeled produce section. The store layout has also been redesigned to make navigation easier, with wider aisles and breaks at the halfway point stretching from the produce section to the dairy department.

The ready-to-eat food section has been significantly enhanced, offering a variety of fresh options such as from-scratch salads, sandwiches, sushi, quiche, burritos, and freshly made pasta, catering to those looking for a quick meal solution.

One of the standout features of the renovated store is the expanded cheese section, curated by certified cheese professional Becca Ledesma. Known for her approachable style and willingness to share her extensive cheese knowledge, Ledesma is eager to help customers create charcuterie boards tailored to their tastes and budgets. “Food shouldn’t be snobby,” Becca said.

Reflecting on the remodel, Harmon noted that West Valley City is undergoing a transformation. “We want to really be a part of that as well,” he said, underscoring the store’s role in the community’s ongoing revitalization efforts.
