Tony Merrill was recently promoted to general manager at the Farr West Distribution Center. With 23 years of tenure at Associated Food Stores, Tony brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the role previously held by Ken Robinson, who recently retired. Throughout his career, Tony has held various positions within the company, showcasing his versatility and dedication to excellence.
Tony’s journey with AFS began when the company acquired the Farr West Distribution Center facility from Rite Aid, earning him the affectionate honor of “coming with the building” among his colleagues. Most recently, Tony led the Outbound Shipping Team, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership despite challenging labor market conditions and a major construction project. Despite these obstacles, Tony’s strategic approach enabled the team to surpass budgetary expectations.
In his new role as general manager, Tony will play a pivotal role in guiding the distribution center into the future and spearheading efforts to modernize the facility. Tony now oversees operations within the distribution center, ensuring efficient and effective management of resources, personnel and processes. His promotion underscores AFS’s commitment to recognizing and fostering talent from within the organization.
“We are thrilled to announce Tony’s promotion,” said Glen Keysaw, vice president of distribution at Associated Food Stores. “Tony’s proven track record of success and high level of commitment make him the ideal candidate to fill this important role. We congratulate Tony on this well-deserved milestone in his career and look forward to his continued contributions to AFS.”
