On February 22, Associated Food Stores and Associated Retail Operations celebrated Supermarket Employee Day, a day dedicated to honoring the hard work and dedication of the incredible team members who work at stores. The event, marked by various activities and gestures of appreciation, was a resounding success.
Leading up to the event, each store received a sign to display in their breakroom expressing gratitude for the invaluable contributions of team members. As part of the celebration, stores provided drinks and treats for all team members, along with healthy options such as apples or oranges. These refreshments were displayed on designated tables alongside the sign, ensuring everyone knew about the important day.
One of the highlights of the day was the peer recognition program. Team members were encouraged to post “shoutouts” on the ARO Mission Possible page on Facebook, and on Accolades, recognizing their colleagues for their hard work and dedication. There were more than 590 recognitions shared on the Accolades platform. Winners were selected from each store, with both the nominator and nominee receiving prizes.
Throughout the day, messages of gratitude were displayed on breakroom TVs, including heartfelt video messages from leadership expressing their appreciation for the team’s efforts.
Supermarket Employee Day was a reminder of the importance of recognizing and celebrating the contributions of store team members. Their commitment and diligence are a driving force behind AFS’ success.
